Wired LAN dropping temporarily
« on: June 20, 2009, 06:08:42 PM »

I just got 825 today, going from my old router to gigabit speeds is definitely nice. However, I keep loosing wired connection to the network maybe every hour or so. If I hit repair connection or wait few minutes it comes back up with no meaningful explanation what happened. Anyone has any suggestion how to fix this? Maybe bad configuration? Did not have this problem with the router I just replaced.
My 825 is revision B1 Firmware 2.00NA.

Exchanged the unit only to have the same problem with another one.
Decided to risk D-Link again, but got DIR-655 instead. Works fine so far.

Another user here with the 825 but I got B1 2.00NA. Windows 7 Troubleshooter says my Broadband modem has problems but we all know it is the 825. You must connected through ethernet, right? It only works online with the wireless connections. I'm going to speak with Frys to get a Linksys WRT610n or else a similar Netgear offering this is ridiculous and I want to speak with someone from AMERICA, NOT some random outsourced employee with a hard accent. I swear I even heard a parrot in the background saying DIR-825 like that, I laughed hard but still this is seriously stupid.

are you in an area with other wireless routers?

have you maybe tried changing the channel of the radio?

could a wireless phone be knocking you off?

I'm having the same problem.  I am going to try a different wired network card tonight, but this router will be returned to Fry's within 3 weeks if this problem isn't fixed.

I have gone out of my way to pull cable to my home theater, and this would make watching Netflix impossible.

Now to be fair, I haven't tested this on my TiVo.  My linux server keeps getting disconnected disrupting my email.

I just set my WAN port to 10 mbit even though I had confirmed no problems with WAN connectivity.  It seems to have resolved my problem, for now.  Later I will try fixing it at 100.  Its possible that it may just be a problem with the speed auto detection code, and that would explain how it made it through QA with such a glaring bug.

My DSL is only 6mbit, and its as fast as I can get until they turn up the already installed UVerse equipment (it has been nearly a year AT&T!).

I have a similar problem, ...but I have other issues too.
Could you tell me if you have similar symtoms to my issues?

My 825 is revision B1 Firmware 2.00NA.

Firmware 2.00NA for rev B1 is 100% crap.  Update your firmware (current latest is 2.02NA for rev B1, but the router itself won't see it, you need to download it from the 'net), and you should see DRASTIC improvements.  (Also, you will download a .zip file from D-link, make sure you un-zip it and only upload the .bin (IIRC) file to your router.)

If you're using rev A and are having issues try the new beta.

Most of issues were addressed. Remember the code isn't final. This is to get users back to a working stable firmware. Please provide your feedback in the Beta board for 1.12NAb05
