unfortunately I'm accessing my NAS via wireless.  So am looking for a backup/copy solution from one NAS to another NAS directly, but via issuing commands from my laptop eg. thinking of using rsync between two NAS?  I have a 10/100 switch btw so not gigabit tho the NAS are.

"Beyond Compare" is good, I've used it before when on wired LAN but with my laptop is now mainly wireless and it's way too slow.

You could always have one of the wired machines do the backups.  You can also load fun_plug and a 3rd party sync application so that the DNS-323 can initiate the backup directly to the secondary device.
