DNS323 and UPNP
« on: January 01, 2010, 04:51:39 AM »

I've set up my DNS323 UPNP with the root folder 'dlink-EE12D2_SHARE' and put some music folders I copied out of the My Music folder on a laptop running XP into the root of the 323, refreshed them but I cannot access them from another wired network PC running Windows 7 and WM12. The DNS323 appears under the Other Libraries in WM12 but reports that the remote media did not allow a connection when I try to access the music files. I can access the folders via the netwroked drive icon. My media player radio can also only access the files as shared folders but not as madia files. I can access other computer media files using WM12 correctly.

I have upgraded to 1.07 but am lost as to what to do next. Any suggestions?

you need to go into media sharing on the windows 7 machine and allow the upnp device to access your machine without doing this the 323's upnp will not stream you can chekc the mark that says access all on my network

Thanks Krenkey. I have 'Allow remote control of my player' and 'Automtaically allow devices to play my media' both checked in WM12. It still doesn't seem to want to access the DNS although it is shown in the Other Libraries folder and gives the same message about access. I did notice that WM12 updated the DNS media library when I just started up WM12.

On my Windows XP machine the DNS is showing as a upnp device in Network Places.

I did some further work with the Wifi radio and that does access and play media on the DNS using upnp and folder access so that is ok - I may have been a bit impatient with it finding and updating things.
