Newby-type questions - please forgive me in advance...

1) I am having a signal strength problem w/ my DIR-655. I realize there are myriad things that can be at the cause of my problem, but I don't have the tech knowledge to figure it out. My 655 is setup in my bedroom on the top of a credenza, against the wall and I'm running it with the default "out of the box" settings. I don't have problems connecting to it from a variety of devices (MacBook Pro 10.5x and iMac 10.6; 2 iPhones and an iPod touch; Archos 5 Internet Tablet running Android; Viliv X70 tablet running Windows XP; Playstation 3 and a Wii).

I start to have connections problems when I'm in the den which is at the other side of the house (2,500 sq ft house). My wireless phone is approx. 35 feet away from my 655. Don't know of any other potential interference issues. A lot of our neighbors have wireless - I see their networks - but don't know if this matters (maybe too many on the same channel?).

I just emailed D-link to see if they can recommend an extender or antennae that may help. Don't know if this is an option either.

2) Apple Wireless Time Capsule: Since I'm running a 655, how can I setup my Time Capsule so that it doesn't affect my current wireless network. My assumption is that there is a way to do this, but I/m not sure how. If I setup the Time Capsule, I assume it'll operate as a wireless network which will be in conflict w/ my 655 network (IP address conflicts due to the 2 serving DHCP addresses, one not knowing what the other is doing). Any recommendations will be appreciated.

I have tried to do homework on both situations, but end up finding myself even more confused - so thanks for bearing with me.

So the time capsule is easy, connect a cable from one of the 4 switch ports on the back of your 655, to the WAN port on the time capsule. Then using either your imac or mbp, connected via one of the switch ports on the time capsule. Use the apple airport tool to configured you capsule, you want to setup a 5ghz 802.11n network, with WPA2-Personal, then on the internet tab where is says connection sharing, choose Off (bridge mode). So what this does is tells the time capsule to be an access point only and let the 655 do all the DHCP and internet connection for all clients.

As for the other, could be alot of things, try changing the channel to 1, 6 or 11, see if any help. It may just be that you can't get coverage corner to corner, so if you can move it to a more central location that would help.
