Codec Error with XBOX 360

I just installed the DNS-323, got my xbox 360 to read from it. I can see all of the videos that I shared with the DNS-323's UPnP AV Server.

When I try and play the file through the xbox, I get an error.

Error 69-80072741 -- which, from what I read, is a codec error.

Any suggestions??

try to change the port, if you can
by deleting the plist file

or the media is corrupt,
i don't know much about xbox, but if you can try another codec

Do you have the Codec update from Live?? I just got a Xbox 360 and I had to get that download to make video files work properly on the 360.

I have seen this  ;D

What happend,
You probably played an movie that was not finished Xing to the DNS. or exited out or did some strange I/O to that file.    
What is happening,
Mostly likely all of your videos even the ones that worked before show up with some nice numbered error code from the XB3.

The Fix you say?
Refresh the Upnp servers list on the dsn323 of the media volume. give the XB3 a Dashboard Refresh Then try the movies again.  

Its kinda strange but reboots of the services usually fix it for me.

Most likely you didn't download the Optional Media Update on your xbox.

I know it says to play music from your iPod but that isn't all it does.

Getting this same problem, but only with certain files.  When I try to watch them from my other machines, the Xbox plays them fine, when I watch them from the DNS-323, I get this same codec error.

I have refreshed the UPnP server, disabled and re-enabled it, upgraded to the 1.08b firmware and no joy.

I have the Optional Media Update on the XBox.

I thought it might be a corrupted file somewhere on the volume, so I ran a scan on the disk but it came back with no errors.

Any help appreciated.

Well, I just solved my own problem, and I hope this solves it for the OP as well.  I realized that the path length for my files was very long.

For example

Videos/TV Shows/Really Long Show Name/Really Long Show Name Season 1/Really Long Show Name S01E01.avi

So, I shortened it.  Moved all of the show up a couple of levels, shortened the Dir names getting something like:

Videos/TV Shows/RLSN/Really Long Show Name S01E01.avi

And VOILA, it worked.
