Hello,
I've been reviewing the forums, and searching and couldn't find anything specific to my issue - if it is an issue.
I have the DIR-655 on firmware 1.21. It's my second - as the first one I returned after updating to the newest fw and the router barely worked after the upgrade...
I have a number of devices connected to the router:
1 PC - GB ethernet connection
1 PC - Wireless G
1 PC - Wireless N (D-Link Extreme N wireless card)
1 laptop - Wireless N (built in dell adapter)
Wii - Wireless G
2 x HTC Magic - Wireless G
The internet speeds are what I expect. Webpages load quickly, downloads are fast, I can pull files off my newsgroups at a full 1.2 MB/sec (my inet is a 10Mb connection, and I pull about 9.5Mb/sec) - so no issues there
The problem (or so I believe) is doing wireless transfers. If I transfer a 4gig file from the wired GB pc to my wireless N PC, I'm lucky if I can get 1.5MB/sec transfer speeds. I realize that sometimes interference may be the result and distance, however we're all in the same room - no electonics between the PC's / router. Everything has line of sight, and we're only about 15-18 feet away tops. I've run a wireless analyser and there are networks in the area, the smallest amount of traffic is on channel 6 - so I've set to that.
Are these speeds appropriate? As I've read in similar configs people can easily get 3-4+ MB/sec. Any extra speed I can squeeze out of the network is handy as there are a lot of large file transfers that take place daily over my network.
Thanks,
Gritten
