Whatever the latest one is probably (1A?) since it was bought less than a month ago.
I'm using N and G because I have N and G clients - a G laptop, Wii, and PS3.
I can't in good conscience drop to G mode on a new $150 router which I bought specifically for N mode when I have a reliable, and let's face it at this point, superior WRT54GL that the 4500 is supposed to be replacing.
I'm not going to run THREE routers at once in the 2.4 GHz spectrum. My N clients are 2.4 GHz only, and 5 GHz wouldn't work because I have units across walls and upstairs/downstairs. I already have an isolated DI-524 running in B mode for our Nintendo DSes and other devices that are WEP only (it's unplugged most of the time).
There's nothing wrong with the settings on my PCs or other devices, and all the drivers are up to date.
Yes, your MBP uses drivers - they're just included in the OS.
I've disabled all but Firewall & Security and Critical in the logging options.
I've disabled gamefuel even though I do have rules set up for it.
I've disabled the DNS relay.
I've disabled WISH.
I've disabled WPS.
I've left SPI at default settings.
I can crash the thing simply by transferring a large file from one PC to another.
I can watch the transfer speed hit about 1 MB/second for 1 second, then drop to 0 for 2 seconds, then go back up for 1 second, then back down. After a minute or two the file transfer dies as the router reboots.
I had a FEW random restarts with the shipping firmware, but the main issue was UPnP - it did not work at all. 1.21 has fixed UPnP. Downloading from websites / bittorrent, gaming, etc. is all fine over wireless. The problem comes the instant I try to transfer files, stream video, etc. between two wireless devices.
(There is still the odd random restart, but I can live with that since it's fairly rare.)
