Ok....I followed the instructions, changed the settings as required, all adapters and the router are using the latest firmware and drivers. The highest speed I get is 150Mbps on one computer (Computer1) and 60Mpbs (Computer2). Both computers are using DWA-130 C1 adapters. Both computers are Windows 7 64bits. 12GB and 8GB RAM respectively.
The router is sitting in the family room on the main floor, back of the house (cable company's choice of location to put the cables through). The two computers on the 1st floor. Computer1 is placed in the bedroom right above the family room and router. Computer2 is in the room farthest from the router location which could explain the reduced speed.
Can anybody tell me if by following the instructions on the sticky about speed I should definitely get 300Mpbs or it is dependent on the computer being directly wired to the router or right beside it for signal?
Shouldn't the range of this router be strong enough to be picked up within the same house just one floor up, decently?
Thanks,
