After many glowing reviews from co-workers, I tried the DIR-655. It had the three features I needed that my old Microsoft MN-700 didn't have: Gig-E, QOS, and Wireless-N.
Well, after two months running 1.32NA and even trying the new beta from Novemeber, I'm sorry to say that the old clunky Microsoft router is coming out of retirement. I have never spent so much time troubleshooting my network only to discover that the router is disconnecting and rebooting. It's a shame too because my coworkers run 1.2x and seem to love the router like a child.
I work in quality control for support for a major tech company, and I am just shocked at the quality control and lack of anything useful coming out of the forums or documentation. There are tons of unhappy customers with this router/firmware, and I'm not seeing one sticky acknowledging the problems, asking for data, etc. I found one old post suggesting that I RMA the router, but I hear that the new ones come pre-loaded with 1.3x, which seems to be the real problem.
I'd be more than happy to provide D-Link support with whatever data or access they need to research the problem -- instead, I just see blaming people for configuration, ISP trouble, etc.
D-Link, you should pull this firmware until you can find the problems. If you can't reproduce the problems in your QA lab, then feel free to contact one of the many unhappy customers, including myself.
