Same here pal.  And my network adaptor can use either!  When i called tech support they said "oh don't worry about that sir"   I don't think so

What a lame answer!  That's what happens when you speak to a contracted support center across the globe.

My two DAP-1522 can use either as well but I'm sure it would be ideal to be on 40, instead of 20mhz.

From what i've read if you are using 20hz width your max theoretical bandwith is 150Mb/s where using 40 doubles the throughput to 300Mb/s.  Either way using 20 i still should be able to stream over the usb attached storage.  I'm starting to believe the usb feature wasn't meant for streaming HD content.

You need to put your 5GHz mode to "Mixed 802.11n and 802.11a" and it will keep the 20/40

Mixed 802.11n and 802.11a eh.  I'll try that at lunch when i get home.  Do you think that'll increase my throughput from ~25Mb/s to 50-60Mb/s?  I'll let you know.  I still think my usb function on the router wasn't meant for HD Streaming as this is the only way I can check throughput through the router.

If you are in the 5Ghz N only mode the 20 wide band is always displayed, even if it is not your current setting.

If you want to use 20/40, select it and hit save.  Your router will be in 20/40 mode, even though it displays only 20 after the save.

For me the easiest way to check if 40 wide is working is to check my wireless laptop utility or to check windows network speed (pretty sure anything over 150mbps has to be 40 wide mode).

I finally got a spare computer from work to test the wireless connection between the router and two computers (one wired and one wirelss).  After alot of tinkering I was finally able to get a sustained 70Mb/s transfer speed with a peak of 80.  In one review the DIR-825 was getting ~80Mb/s throughput.  But in other reviews and a few members on this forum they say up to 110Mb/s   How are they achieving another 30-40 Mb/s.  Could it be my adaptor versus theirs?  I have security off with MAC filtering on.  Guess i'll just be happy i can achieve ~70Mb/s.  As a side note i was able to achieve 250-350Mb/s wired between computers.
