Suddenly Started Dropping Internet Connection
« on: January 14, 2010, 01:38:00 PM »

My 655 has been reliable up until today when it started dropping the internet connection (yes, the internet connection).  It will be down for a few minutes, up for a few minutes, down for an hour, up for a few minutes, down for a few minutes, up for an hour...  You get it.  This is happening simultaneously on my laptop and desktop, so I know it is not a pc issue.  On the firmware status screen it appears to be trying to make a connection via PPOE but having no success - rebooting sometimes, but not always, gets me back on line.  I never lose my wireless connection.  I am typing this right now since I unplugged the router and am now plugged directly in to my laptop (PPOE via IFITL).  I have reset everything and re-configured but the issue persists.  Is it toast?  Any suggestions?

Hi kurtd123,

What is PPOE via IFITL?

Is your Dir-655 unit plugged into a DSL-Modem or Cable Modem?
