I currently have Mediacom as my ISP and I use the Motorola SB6120 cable modem to connect to the internet.

I recently replaced my Linksys WRT54GS with the DLINK DGL-4500.  I've configured it so that I assign the IP addresses manually of any device in my network that connects through the router. I have the following devices on my network:

192.xxx.x.105 – DLINK DLG-4500 router

192.xxx.x.110 –  (computer room PC) - wired (LAN PORT 1)
192.xxx.x.111 – (upstairs PC) - wireless
192.xxx.x.112 – XPS M1710 (Dell laptop) wireless
192.xxx.x.113 – Inspiron 1420 (Dell laptop) – wireless

192.xxx.x.120 – Xbox 360 Console – wired (LAN PORT 4)
192.xxx.x.121 – Xbox 360 Console – wireless
192.xxx.x.122 – Wii Console wireless

192.xxx.x.130 – DirecTv Receiver (HR-21) – wired (LAN PORT 2)
192.xxx.x.131 – Panasonic Blu-ray Disc Player
192.168.1.132 – Denon HT Receiver (AVR-3808ci) – wired (LAN PORT 3)

Initally, only the wireless devices would connect and my desktop pc (wired).  The devices using LAN PORTS 2-4 would not connect to the internet (Denon for NET music / XBOX 360 to Xbox Live).  I enabled DHCP Server and set the address range from 192.168.1.120 to 192.168.1.199.  My Denon Receiver and Directv Receiver showed up in NUMBER OF DYNAMIC DHCP CLIENTS.  The only device that wouldn't work was the (wired) Xbox 360 using LAN PORT 4.  I allowed the Xbox 360 to automatically obtain an IP ADDRESS and it chose 192.168.1.199 and connected.  However, it wouldn't connect using 192.168.1.120 (previous address when using Linksys Router).

Now, both Xbox 360's can get on Xbox Live with an open NAT however, when playing Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (multiplayer), it will not find any game matches (continues searching).  I am able to join games in progress played being played by invites or joining games in progress (from friends currently playing).  I opened the ports for required for XBOX LIVE in the GAMING tab (ADVANCED, GAMING) and also enabled GAMEFUEL and added two rules (one for each Xbox 360).

Also, it seems my internet download and upload speeds have greatly decreased since hooking up the router (2.7Mb/s, 0.05Mb/s) compared to the Linksys router (10.0+Mb/s, 1.07+Mb/s).  Something isn't right and I can't seem to figure it out.

**UPDATE**  I bypassed the DLINK DGL-4500 router and connected my cable modem directly to my PC.  My download / upload speeds greatly increased (24.00+Mb/s, 1.10+Mb/s).  i reconnected my router and ran some speed tests.  The speeds remained the same (24.00+Mb/s, 1.10+Mb/s).  I then rebooted the router and ran more speed tests.  The speeds were back to (2.7Mb/s, 0.05Mb/s).  It seems the bottleneck is with the router.  

Any help is greatly appreciated in getting my setting where they should be for this router to work correctly with my devices.

I have several devices hooked up to my 4500, with 1 wired xbox and 1 wireless, both have static ips with game fuel enabled. IF I GO UNDER ADVANCE/GAME TAB AND FORWARD PORTS 80,3074, WICH COMES RIGHT UP UNDER XBOXLIVE THEN I HAVE ALL SORTS OF PROBLEMS WITH MODERATE NAT OR CANT CONNECT AT ALL WITH WIRED XBOX! Sounds like something isn't setup right, the Gaming setting should be working well when used for one device.

You 2> Heres what I would do and I have walked 3 other guys thru this that play XBL great now and have more than 1 xbox and more than me, LOL.
Save off your current configuration to file for the router. Tools/System.
You can choose to do a factory reset or keep going if you wish. Might be easier to just do a factory reset and start clean.
Note: You must save your settings before you leave each page but you can choose to "Reboot Later".
1. Disconnect everything from the routers LAN ports.
2. Connect 1 PC or LT wired.
3. Connect 1 Xbox wired. Leave xbox off.
4. Open the routers web page and on the opening page, Status, Look in the WAN section and find Primary and Secondary DNS addresses. They should be listed. Write down or Copy and Paste these addresses into the Basic/DYNAMIC IP (DHCP) INTERNET CONNECTION TYPE/Primary and Secondary boxes that are probably empty.

5. Remove the check mark from Advanced DNS Service. Keep this in mind that this may or may not work well if checked or unchecked. I'm only giving my experience thus far by have it unchecked and disabled. Play with this if needed. Save Settings and Reboot Later if asked.

6. Go to Network settings and look for DNS Relay check box. Mine is checked and I have setup 3 other guys with it ON. Keep this in mind that this may or may not work well if checked or unchecked. 7. In DCHP settings and remove ALL assigned DHCP Clients by using the revoke word link next to each address listed. I would find the 1 PC's connected IP address and leave it or make it static at this time by selecting reserve. You can reserve and edit the name and IP address number here if you wish. IT folk like to keep think neat and orderly as I do as well. So, here's a good place to start keeping things neat and orderly and start to add devices.

8. Once the PC is setup and working, add the xbox. Turn on the xbox and allow it to get online. Be sure to remove any manually entered IP address information on the xbox and set it to DHCP if needed.

9. Refresh the routers web page on the DHCP client page. You should see 2 devices now. The newer IP address listed should be the xbox. You can compare the ip address on the xbox to verify. If it gets online successfully, Reserve the IP address. Again, give a name to it and keep the current IP address or change it to what you'd like it to have. Mines .50. Add and save the change. If you changed the IP address for the xbox and saved it. Turn off the xbox and then back on.  It should sign in correctly. Don't play games, just yet. Save settings and Reboot Later if asked.

10. Now go to Gaming and setup the Xbox Live rule as stated in my post instructions for the one xbox. This will be the only item and device you can use for the Xbox Live entry. Enter the IP address you setup for the xbox. Add the item and Save and Reboot Later when asked.

11. Now go to Game Fuel and set up one rule for the 1 xbox by using my posted instructions for GameFuel.
Add the entry, Save and Reboot Later.

12. Now go to Firewall, Mine is enabled and setup for EndPoint Independent for UDP and TCP. I would try disabling this at this time if enabled. Once you verify that the xbox and other devices connect properly. Then go back and enable it and use the EndPoint Indy settings as posted in my Instructions. Leave the APL check boxes checked as is. Save the setting and Reboot Now.

13. Allow the router to reboot. While the router is rebooting. Turn off the xbox if it's not off already. Verify the routers status again by checking the status page. Look at the recent changes and make sure they are setup. They will be. Check you internet speeds here BIGGSHOOTER. If good, Turn on the xbox and see if it signs in to XBL. Now, go check a game out and see what happens. You shouldn't see any issues. Again this is the process I've been using to get 3 other people going for these settings.

14. If good, then I would starting adding the other xbox devices one at a time until there done. Check each one for connectivity as you go. As for Wii and other non xbox items. I would not add them to the Gaming or Gamefuel since these settings are for XBL only and I don't know any information about them since I don't have one. Sorry. However add them to the Reserved IP address list for east of management. For wireless, Follow my instructions in the wireless section. My 1 buddy in OK has one xbox on 2.4Ghz G mode only and his son is enjoying playing MW2.

THis process I hope would help you start with a simple setup by starting with one device and going from there. If you can get one device going and working well, then all others should be easy and work well.

I would suggest that if you have a lot of devices that you want to connect to the router, I would suggest that you think of getting a Gb switch to put online with the 4500. My network has a lot of PCs and wireless devices so I got a 24pt switch. I put all the wired PCs/Printers, Wifi routers on it and my one xbox is wired direct to the back the 4500. I know this is old but this was resolved. It was not a router issue.
An ISP HW issue.

Guy on these forums helped me out...goes by the name "FurryNutz"...maybe you've heard of him??

This guy knows his stuff...has helped me out numerous times!  My home network / routers / switches work flawlessly because of him.  Currently have the DGL-4500 (D-Link) as my main router, the WNDR3700 (Netgear) set up as an AP (wired / wireless), and two HP ProCurve Switches.

 

Might consider replacing the WNDR3700 (Netgear) with the DIR-855 (D-Link) and using it as my AP (wired / wireless).

3700 as an AP seems to drop the wireless connection as my desktop PC upstairs gets disconnected (and no networks show up to connect to) from my home network.  I've had to reset the 3700 and restart my upstairs PC just to get both (3700 / PC) to connect to my home network.

I currently have the 3700 upstairs in my home (used as an AP - wired / wireless).  My desktop upstairs has a wireless card and is connecting to the 3700 (only 6' away from 3700) rather than the 4500 (since it's farther away - main level of home).  I currently lowered the TRANSMIT POWER to MEDIUM on the 4500.  I tried lowering the TRANSMIT POWER to 50% on 3700 and the WIRELESS RADIOS were mysteriously disable and I couldn't enable them unless the TRANSMIT POWER is / was at 100%.

Maybe it's time to try the DIR-855 as an AP.

I guess will need to refer you to the NG support site for that issue with the 3700. SIR.

Odd that lowering the power on the NG disables the radios. Hmm.
