New Beta Firmware 122b02NA Released on 1/15/2010 for DIR-855
« on: January 16, 2010, 07:54:45 AM »

Today I downloaded and installed the new firmware and so far nothing has exploded ! The configuration file created by the previous beta release 121b07NA seems to be 100% compatible with it. I didn't have to change anything. The Status web page displays Firmware: 1.22NA 2009/12/23. Also, I noticed that no release notes file was included in the Zip package. So ... D-Link ... What got tweaked ?

   Get your copy at ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir855/Beta/Firmware/

What changed would be my question as well.  I won't upgrade to a beta version unless it is something that will really help me.

If it bricks your router, they won't support it.  Even if it's because of bad code they provided.

Upgraded my dir-855 and it's still working.  ;)
Only one problem, the router only connects at 150mbit.
With the 1.21 beta firmware it had a solid 300mbit wireless connection, nothing changed in the routers config so this is weird.  :-\
Anyone else with the same problem  ?

Did you rest the router ?
Even if the update did not change the settings, you should reset it to factory defaults and configure new.

Mine seems to have a slightly improved 5GHz connection and 2.4 GHzis working as before with 300Mbps.

Has this resolved any of the wireless packetloss and wireless errors associated with the 1.21 beta 0x firmwares?

Check the Channel Width setting. IT now defaults to 20 instead of 20/40 Mode. That would cause the 150.

Can people in Europe with A2 hardware use this?

Yes, you can install this firmware but you can't switch back to EU versions afterwards.

I've ben running it since last night and I have 0, that's zero wireless errors on either channel so far.  Definitely better than the 1.21 beta 07 so far in my opinion.  I'll be waiting a few weeks though before I pass judgement on this firmware though.

I just installed this new beta firmware last night and the range and speed on both the g and n are INSANELY increased and wonderful :o! The only problem so far is that I still get wireless restarts on the wireless g side of the wireless ???? Is anybody else getting the same results or is it just me? I still have not seen what exactly this new firmware changed or improved. I would love to hear other peoples results on the wireless restarts or the lack there of. Thanks dlink for continuing to support a potentially great router!

I'd say hold off.  I regret upgrading past the 1.12 and I was only stuck with the 1.21NA beta 07 for a couple of weeks until the 1.22 beta 02 came out.

Yes, I restored the router to defaults, flashed the router, and manually set everything back up.

It is quite normal that you get errors, otherwise you would always have 100% - 300 Mbps connection  ;D
This is wireless - important is the number of errors.

Wireless Statistics
Sent : 524983
TX Packets Dropped : 490
Received : 285319
RX Packets Dropped : 5
Errors : 41

If you have a higher number of errors, most likely something is affecting your wireless negatively.
