DIR-825 A1 Nintendo DS issue (Solved)
« on: January 23, 2010, 08:35:46 AM »

Hello, I own a DIR-825 router. Its hardware version is A1 and my firmware is currently version 1.01. Everything has worked perfectly fine up to this point but the other day I bought a Nintendo DS. I try to connect to the router using the DS Wi-Fi setup. It can find the router just fine, but when it tries to "Test the Connection" it tells me its unable to connect to the access point.

It has perfect reception so i know it's not that. I believe its due to the router not assigning the DS an IP. I've looked all around the net and cant find any help on this subject so I figured I'd post here to see if anyone could help.

Please! I want to use the Wi-Fi on this thing!!

is your router setup to use some security?  Have you setup the DS for the same type of security and added the password?

No, there are no security settings on the router.

Setup the Nintendo DS for static IP config like instructed here: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wfc/en_na/ds/wrSetupHelp.jsp don't worry about finding the available range which is 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.199 by default. they suggest you find a IP not in the DHCP pool so 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.99 or 192.168.0.200 - 192.168.0.254 are 2 large ranges to choose an IP out of, subnet mask will be 255.255.255.0, gateway and DNS server addresses will be router IP which is 192.168.0.1
also check wireless settings to make sure 802.11b is enabled on the 2.4GHz band, then under advanced>network filter check to see that MAC address filter is not ON which will prevent devices not in the list from connecting.
