Save Password Issue in XP
« on: January 24, 2010, 09:44:04 AM »

Hello all,

I seem to be having a problem with saving passwords for mapped drives to my DNS323 in Windows XP.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I went through the map drive dialog and successfully created the drive.  I entered my target folder as \\IPAddressOfNAS\sharename.  The "Reconnect at logon" option is checked.  I select the "Connect using a different user name" option and enter my info there just as it's set up on the DNS323.  After completing the map drive dialog and clicking finish, I can access the drive fine, no problems.  However, after logging off or shutting down and the logging back in, when I go to open the mapped drive, XP prompts me for a username and password.  I have tried going into "Manage my network passwords" under user accounts and adding credentials for the DNS323 with IPAddressOfNAS in the "Server" field, IPAddressOfNAS\username in the "User name:" field, and my password in the "Password:" field.  This doesn't seem to do anything.

Anybody run into this?  The thing that is driving me really crazy is that I have shares mapped on a different machine running Windows XP with all of the same updates, etc, and no problems.  After a reboot of that box, everything connects back up fine, no username/password prompts.
