Connecting a WBR-1310 & a DGL 3420
« on: January 26, 2010, 10:29:24 AM »

NEED HELP - I am using a WBR-1310 router which has worked fine for a couple years and i run many devices on it (Ps3, Wii, 2 Laptops, Ipod - all wirelessly).  I have a new ethernet capable device that I needed to hook up but it was in a different room in my house and hardwiring is not an option.  So I bought a D Link Wireless Gaming Adapter 3420, many of the people that have the same device say to use a Gaming Adapter as it works best with the least amount of configuration.

Well, for several days I have tried to get this thing running with this device and it is not working - I set the configuration on the 3420 - note: everytime i enable the DHCP it craps out and i have to reset it - it will not recover once i hit save - i just have to reset it. I have tried many configurations and it will just not work, I can sometimes see the 3420 in my network but them it dissapears - i cannot see teh device it is connected to at all.  I have it in the same room as the router for testing so it is not a range issue. do i have a compatability issue between the 1310 and the 3420? I flashed the firmware on both the 1310 and 3420, the results seem to have gotten worse.  I am at my wits end as i bought this thing for $100 and everyone said it was "so easy" - not true - if it is not a hardware issue (i will call tech support tonight to rule out teh hardware issue) it is a user issue - what am i doing wrong?
