Newsleecher and the 4500
« on: January 26, 2010, 05:35:37 PM »

I had a DGL-4300 and upgraded to the 4500 and as soon as I did all was well untill I went to use my newsleecher!  the speed is sooooooo slow and when I run speed test im getting my speed just not in newsleecher! is their something I should do to fix this? I even bought another router to see if it was the one I had and that one did the same thing! but as soon as I go back to the 4300 its normal speeds and the dl are super fast. the 4500 is slowing the dl`s down bad. and im talking about wired to my desktop  I have tried it on multiple pcs and it does the same thing no matter what. I have even upgraded to the beta frimware. any help in this would be great guys! thanks in advance

See if disabling  Advanced DNS Service  might help.

Under Internet Manual settings. Hmm if it's already disabled, Hmmm, wonder what else could be slowing your connection. You might have to set up a rule for that program. You'll need to know the ports it uses.

Hmm well I would contact the maker of the application and ask. They should have the info you need. Technically it should work fine thru the router however, this router has some features that may not be fully compatible out of the box until you get them set up. Like Gaming and Gamefuel. I had to do some research on finding the settings to get them set up. Some applications use specific ports and such. Get ahold of them and see if they have any info and tell them what router your using, they might have had this problem before and can provide info and maybe this is new for them and this router. I wish I could help more. You could check to DNS Relay, Mine is enabled, see if your is or isn't. Try the opposite. This is the only application that is not working well when connected?

yes it is. newsleecher is D/L slow when I run speed test its the speed I should be gettting and when I go back to my 4300 its fine just on the 4500 I will check that too and see and I will email them and see what ports and give them an idea of whats going on too.

Let us know, this could be something that DLink might need to know about.

Under Basic/Network Settings. You might also want to see if your primary and secondary DNS addresses are filled in under Basic/Internet/Manual. Sometimes these are blank even though they are being used. I would go to the Status/Device Info section and look in the WAN section for Primary and Secondary DNS addresses and put these into the Internet/manual boxes if there empty.
