DHCP Server dies in DIR-685
« on: January 28, 2010, 03:26:17 PM »

The built in DHCP server dies intermetent!
(Or it stops serviceing IP lease requests.)

The only way is to use a fixed ip, then you can surf and reach the router!
When you reboot it it starts working agin for a while.

Any one else experience those problems on this router?
(Europe firmware, latest in use!)

I have a couple of IP reservations in the DHCP range for some PC's also...

It's driving me mad! (A new router is sent for replacement, but i doubt that will solve it!)

I have set several of ip addresses as fixed though the router so they do not have to be renewed. Same firmware as you (uk) I have not powered down my router since I set it up 9 days ago, I will try it and let you know. M

I have noticed the same issue recently, dhcp services dies, it was working fine in the beginning, I have added some dhcp reservation a total of 10 and now almost everyday some devices cannot register, the only to fix it is to reboot the router...  what a piece of junk!

I have the same problem.

Anyone SOLVE it?

Does the B1 H/W help?

This is very concerning...my home network is extremely unreliable with this router.

I did remove all dhcp reservations, and reduce the number of dhcp clients!
Only iphones using it now..

Did set all other clients to use fixed ip's insted!

So it's abit better.. Some kind of bug in the firmware i guess.
Call D-Link support and they will proberbly just send you a new router ;-)

my problem is a bit different.

I have trouble getting new wireless clients to get a working internet connection.

Meaning all older clients of which I have set DHCP reservations for connect to the internet as normal, but new gadgets (iPads and a Laptop) can seem to connect to the network but not reach the internet, despite me setting DHCP reservations for those devices.

Tried rebooting, restoring the router to no avail. Any ideas?

Definitely a F/W bug. You do not state what F/W version you are on but I can assure you the latest available 2.00 is still very buggy.
