Securespot makes "Problem Loading Page" or Page does not exist.

I know it is securespot becuse if I disable securespot in the firmware all goes great.  I've seen this happen before maybe 6 months ago... once I called them at that time and they said they lost some servers (didn't have backups??!!).  Anyway, is anyone else experiencing slow or pages just not loading with Securespot?

It isn't all pages, but seems random... sometimes facebook, sometimes something else... never google...  *always* disappears (today and earlier this week... since about Wednesday afternoon) after I disable SS.

A4, 1.21... when securespot works (sometimes for MONTHS) it works great, until it just pukes for days (or who knows how long this time).  Anyone else?

You are not alone.. This is happening every month for the last 6 months.

DLinks has done nothing about this except point you to Securespot. Securespot says there is nothing wrong. Well, its evident there is because when disabling the services everything works perfectly. Re-enable and back to slow loading and pages timing out.

I'm experiencing this problem as well but willing to put up with it for the value of having SecureSpot. A fix would be nice though.

This is a reoccurring problem for 6 months. I really don't think they will fix it. Its been happening once every month.

Well I just re-enabled SS we'll see how it goes.  I have 4 boys in the house & 1 man so I really want it and hate disabling.  I called them a while back when it was bad for weeks and they said they lost some major servers with no backups.  PATHETIC.  Back when I had the service on the Gaming router (same service different product) they would go out like this and I was told it was because they had a single NT server servicing all the Dlink gaming routers and it needed rebooting.  I think I was the only customer and had they just given me admin rights I could have just rebooted their server and saved everyone trouble.  They told me to upgrade to a securespot so I did... still same problems.  So I've upgraded to this dir-655.  SAME PROBLEMS.  I'm done throwing dlink $$.

edit:  well I re-enabled and the router just puked and rebooted.  what a turd.

There are a lot of security products that are just as good if not better than SS.

Yes there is. I've been trialing the Cisco version and the best part about Cisco's router is that everything is local on the hardware. SS has to go out to the Internet and grab the services. I understand the logic but that adds latency, etc on WEB pages being loaded.

BTW - I just received and email from SS telling me my service needs to be renewed and my CC has expired.. I changed the number and expiration date of my CC cause it tried to auto renew on me. Im not renewing with SS. I tried calling the number the email supplied but all it does is bring back a dial tone. Its happening on both home and cell phones. It gets better, this has been going on for at least 2 months. I've had the contact numbers and none have worked. Way to go SS and DLink. Can't even call in for an issue.

If your ISP is Comcast you can get Norton 360 for free.

Forget SS, use the free opendns.com service.

I test SS and had similar issues, but what sucks is I have it off on the router, yet every now and then all internet goes down and when you load a browser you see the securespot page?!?!

I have no idea why all the hype about dlink, their hardware might be good, but the software, updates to firmware, and support just plain suck.

Screw this, I am back to WRT54GL and tomato or open-wrt

So you must not have any N devices.

Why did you buy a N router if you did not need it?

Hi,

There is no value to a service that causes more hassles than it is supposed to solve.

Secure spot is an interesting idea....one place to solve all your security set ups and what not...., but if it doesn't work, and in my case it costs too much for my tastes....its not worth it....

Beyond the technical, having to go to each PC on my home net allows me to keep a better hands on of what my kids are up to..... and then if I deem it needed, I make changes to my router's whitelist and such....

Besides, all you have to do is run a program like the typical AOL client, and it acts like a big proxy, and securespot cant do squat to stop it.  AOL's browser, from my experiences, will bypass securespot with no challenges....  Don't tell my kids I said that tho....

Like bill clinton said, if you leave out details, it ain't lying.

Yes, most of my devices are wireless N now...

I will let you in on a little secret, Wireless N adapters are backwards compatible with 802.11g. And since my internet speed is slower than wireless g, I would rather return this POS wireless n device and use an old but rock solid and trusted 802.11g.

The hardware in the dir-655 is far superior to the linksys wrt54g and has better range, the wireless n would have been a bonus. But I am not going to use it in the state it is in. Securespot popping up and killing the internet alone is enough to return this. Add to this the flaky wireless, and not remembering my settings for virtual server and this is completely useless. The device has been out for longer than a year and still they cannot release a stable firmware.

Any figures on that claim?
