I've been experiencing disk caching issues with my DNS-323 recently. I've used the device for more than a year now, and until about two months ago I had no trouble with it at all. However, very suddenly I started having data transfer problems, transfers would often stop and start, interfere with each other or simply not work for a period of time.
After nosing about my system I found that both Windows and other software were reporting that my DNS-323 had a 1.77mb disk cache, resulting in I/O overloading with anything going on at all. I'm uncertain as to whether the issue lies with the NAS itself, the disk or the network. The issue's appearance did not coincide with any notable events such as a firmware upgrade, DNS settings change or network settings change.
I'd appreciate any advice anyone can give. I'd really like to be able to both transfer a file and manage directories at the same time or maybe even transfer two files at once again.
