If you want to take advantage of the gigabit speeds, use CAT5e or CAT6.

CAT5 will work, but you won't get gigabit.

I recommend CAT6 for now. Especially if you are doing long runs.

5e does a reasonable job, but I've actually seen a marked improvement, so I've picked up a 1000' spool and I've been replacing all of my 5e cables with 6.

It can be tougher to make patch cables with, but I think it's worth it.

Your mileage may vary...

I have that same set up as first mentioned, and I replaced everything with CAT 6 that is 1Gbps.  Also a good idea to keep the line from the modem to router as short as possible, I used 2' with them right next to each other.  But this will really only help with intranet transfers, as you won't get these super high speeds from the internet.   I think that SB6120 is rated for 150Mbps max.  But always good to be ahead of technology!

Yea from my modem to router is 3ft cat6 belkin ethernet cable. It seem cat 6 is way better for non gigabit device to because my xbox is not rated for gigabit speed but when i use cat 6 it seems better and smoother for me i threw my ethernet that came with the xbox because is soo cheap looking. All my ethernet from belkin ethernet cable  is the best ethernet cable ever.
