failover/ARP lookup configuration
« on: February 03, 2010, 05:07:06 AM »

Hi, I have successfully set up a DFL-210 with failover, using the DMZ interface as a secondary WAN interface. The DFL uses ARP lookups to determine the state of the link.

The DFL is set up with NAT and a single IPadresses on the WAN (on each WAN, to be correct)

I recently ran into problems when putting a switch in front of the DFL (on the WAN side). The DFL could not detect when the WAN was down, or it thought it was down when it wasn't.

I guess this is due to ARP lookups ending up at the switch and not at the broadband router.

Is it any way to configure the DFL so that it works correctly even when connected as described?

Thanks for your help!

Under 2.26.00 you have the availability of doing host monitoring using a protocol and address of your choice.
