JBOD question in DNS-321
« on: February 03, 2010, 05:13:07 AM »

Hi,

My question is, let's suppose that I have one hard disk only in my DNS-321, and I fill it with data. Tomorrow If I buy another hard disk and plug it on DNS-321, its possible to use JBOD without lost my data in my first disk?

Thanks in advance

Why would you want to use JBOD, it's the least useful mode.  Just use the two drives separately, that way they're not dependent on each other.

Because are two places for one purpose, store my files.
But thinking about my concern of upgrade the hard disks in a future and keep/move my data in the new hard disk, the best solution is use two drives separately, don't you agree?

No way I'd use JBOD, IMO the only practical modes are RAID-1 or separate disks for this box.
