Odd Network Problem; Can't Access Server On My Network
« on: February 06, 2010, 10:55:20 PM »

Hi.  I need some help with a weird network problem I'm having.  Here is how my network is set up.  Due to the way the house is constructed, the dsl modem and dir-655 router are in the one room with a phone jack.  Across the hallway is my office.  In the office I have a server attached to a dap-1522 bridge via a ethernet connection.  I also attach my laptop via ethernet connection to the 1522 bridge.  The connection between the 1522 bridge and the 655 router is up and running fine.  I can access the internet with my laptop.  The problem arises when I try to access my server.  I can't access the server at all.  It's like the computer can't find it.  If I use my laptop's wireless connection to access my network, then I'm able to connect to my server and everything is working fine.  Does anyone have an answer to this?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Most likely you enabled QoS in the DAP-1522.
This is a known issue of this device.

If QoS is enabled, at least in bridge mode, devices connected to the switch of the DAP can't see each other. Disable QoS.

In most cases you don't need it because the DIR router can handle it much better.

@lizzi555:

Thanks a bunch!  That did the trick.
