How to setup my router so i can host a webpage
« on: February 07, 2010, 01:49:46 PM »

I am replaced my router with a new dlink dir-655.  Prior to replacing the router i could host my web pages with no problem by placing the IP addy of the host machine on the DMZ.  However, when i do this with the new dir-655 i still can't pull up the web pages from outside of my router.  Could someone please tell me a easy way to get access to my hosted web sites.

Thanks,

pt

Yes, I had that set at one point and it did not make a difference.  Do I only set  port forwarding and virtual server?

theoretically you can use both, but Virtual Server is the preferred one to use.

Can you tell me what ports to open up for this.  I have 80, 8888, 8181, 8080 and am still having no luck.

80 is the standard http port. But how did you confgure you're webserver? if you use a different port for the server port 80 will not work...
