weird Permission privilege
« on: February 16, 2010, 09:04:06 AM »

Hello Every!
I am very happy to be on this forum!

I've just bought the 321 and now i'm having issues about the "sufficient privilege".

By default, everyone in the network have " R/W " permission AND i don't need to login to access the files. So what i did first was upload a folder with about five images. I added another user call "Sean" and gave him all R/W permission. I then logged out and logged back in as "Sean". But now i can't even delete the folder that was created before...Even if i have all acess to r/w.

is this normal?

Even if i created 5 different users with the same r/w privilege, i will NOT be able to delete anything unless I log in as the user who created the file. It doesn't really makes much sense to me.

I've already updated my firmware to the latest.

So I tried resetting the Network List to the default and then first delete the All user access and then added some new users, but same thing.

Please help.

Thank You,

Sean D

Since 'Sean' is not the owner of the folder you created before, he will not be able to delete it.

Giving him rwx doesn't equal to give him superuser or admin access.

I'm trying to find out how permissions work in the dsn-321 without using hacks (at first, at least). I mean, how the interface works in setting the standard *nix permissions.
