Computer connecting at 54 kpbs
« on: February 16, 2010, 09:52:15 AM »

Router: DIR-655

Network Card: Dell Wireless 1390 mini card

None of the computers could connect to the internet through the router (1 wired, 2 wireless). So I reset the router to the factory defaults. I had saved the settings on the router before reseting it, so everything should be exactly the same as before reseting it. The other two computers work. One is only connecting at 54 kpbs. The 802.11 mode is set to "Mixed G, N".  It was connecting at 300 mbps before.

I am not sure whether this is related. When the "enable auto channel scan " is disabled, the other wireless computer can not connect. Before, when it was enabled, the computer could connect.  I would rather turn it off and choose what channel I want.

N mode(only) must be set to attain 300 mbps

if a mix is set the speed won't reach 300 mbps

don't fret over what windows is telling you the connection speed is, try a file transfer for a better idea of how your config is working

You need to set WPA/WPA2 with an AES cipher to get 300 Mbps.... Mix mode works fine to get 300 on your .11N adapters......

There is a sticky on this topic as to what all needs to be done to get at or near 300 on wireless....

I guess I stand corrected, I was under the impression that mixed mode would  cause the speed to drop to the slower of the mix.

I learned something..thanks

My other wireless computer says I am getting 300 mbps.
