FTP transfer problems
« on: February 23, 2010, 05:03:49 AM »

I have 1.07 firmware with funplug (ssh on, telnet off) and few weeks ago i began to have problems with uploading and downloading via ftp protocol.

After every transfer it refuse connection and for example FileZilla trying to transfer file again... but most times file is already transfered. Sometimes it refusing connections when i have 5 of 10 connections to ftp.

Any clue what causing it or how to fix it? Thanks.

Have you considered upgrading to 1.08 to see if you still have the issue?

Does it do the same thing if you use SFTP over SSH?  Not really sure how this will help, but I am curious.

I will try it. I hope it will not make things worse. But I prefer to upgrade with no problems anyway. :)

Wiggs,

It looks like SFTP is without problems. Except one, it provides access to many places where FTP dont. Is limit of connection applied on SFTP too?

I would be happy with FTP fixed anyway. :)

One thing to note.  I recommend a reset to factory defaults and a manual reconfigure when you upgrade firmware.  I had a persistent issue I couldn't clear until I did that.  I know this is advised, and I was being lazy, and it bit me. :)

Are you logging into SFTP as 'root'?  That would allow access to everything.  If you create another user and assign access rights to them and then SFTP using the new user it should work.

Wiggs,

I am logging as regular user (just changed FTP => SFTP).

In FTP, folder Public is top accessible folder for user (i have created test user for this).
But in SFTP i can go into other folders above that folder (some with 777, some 775 some inaccesible).
I want only Public folder accesible for that user / group.

FTP access in web administration is for test user:
Path    User/Group
Volume_1/public    test
