Can't go faster than 22,5Mbps
« on: March 05, 2010, 04:33:12 AM »

Hi,
I've got a D-Link DIR-615 rev.B, 2.25 firmware.
No matter how I configure the router I'm stuck at about 22,5Mbps of max wireless transfer. Doesn't matter if it's upload or download, the total transfer will not exceed 22,5.
There are no electronic devices near the router (apart from my 2 computers) so there shouldn't be any interference. I use 6e FTP cable to connect to the internet so it's not the cable's fault.
My current wireless setup:
802.11 mode - n&g
Enable Auto Channel Scan
Transmission rate - best
Channel Width - Auto 20/40
I do not use any security

Any ideas what I can do to improve this transmission rate?

Hi.
You don't mention what model of wireless adapter you are using on the PC. There may be a problem if it is not fully compatible. I've heard of speed issue's with some Intel brand adapters.
Also, make sure you have the latest driver for the adapter on the PC.
Let us know if this helps.

Hi,
thanks for the reply.
I didn't mention the PC adapter on purpose, since I've checked the transfer on a number of computers. On at least 3 of them I made sure the latest drivers were installed so I figured the problem lays somewhere else...

go to the web interface and then to the status screen, navigate to wireless and verify the mode, rate and signal

In order to get 300mbps you need WPA-2 (AES) for the security. Check the sticky note for the DIR-615. I am running 300 mbps on all my machines.
