I have been having this issue since the latest firmware upgrade and wanted to see if anyone had a fix. When I am watching a video, typically an AVI file with Xvid or Divx MPEG-4 encodcoding file with MP3 sound, I either fast forward or use the numbers to jump and the audio is then out of sync. If I just watch it regular without fast forwarding it works fine. I have tried the standard media server app that D-Link has, TVersity, as well as Windows Media Player 11 as the media server and the audio get's out of sync with all of them. If I play the file on the PC and FF it is fine as well. All of this leads me to believe it is something with the DSM-520's firmware but I have no way to go back in a FW revision to test (as far as I know).
I did check one additional thing which I am not sure has an actual impact but seems to. If I open the AVI file with GSpot and look at the Stream Type and A/V Interleave section the files that do not FF well are all Type: AVI, IMRR: 1.00 and in the I/L section they do not have the 'p' specified which I looked up and is a setting for an audio sync mark. The files that FF fine are Type: OpenDML AVI, Version: 1.00 and have a 'p=498' or similar in the line for I/L.
I would love for a D-Link person to comment on the following:
1. if there was something in the latest firmware that would cause this
2. Is D-Link actively working on a fix for this
3. Can I go back to an earlier firmware version manually and if so how?
I should also state that I am running the DSM-520 through component because it does not work with my new TV and HDMI.
Thanks in advance.
