OK, here's the deal - my old standby computer was set up as a print server and data storage unit, two drives Raid/mirrored... the motherboard 'gave up the ghost', she ran on Win 2k (of course, the data is saved as such and stores two years worth) - I need to access and back up this data on a new external 1-TB drive that I have and then, 'after transfering data', I might reformat both drives for use as networking backup...
So! how can I safely load one of the drives into the DNS-323, access existing data WITHOUT reformatting?
... can I plug and play one of the existing drives without data loss and access it via the web prompt or will it read this drive on the DNS-323 through my new computer as a new drive?
After reading all the *%*#$%@* messages regarding auto-rebuild and 'it formatted the wrong drive' and such... just want to be sure before I risk one of the drives... not sure data is accessible on both drives!!!
