Cannot Access Router's Setup Interface
« on: March 05, 2010, 10:46:25 PM »

I was updating my firmware from 1.11 to 1.33NA and after it uploaded and installed...after the reboot, I wasn't able to connect to the interface via http://192.168.0.1/  It would always time out.

I powered down the modem, then the router, and then the PC and still no luck.  I also tried to reset from the button in the back and power cycled through...and still times out.

I'm running a Vista PC and is hardlined to the router.

Tell me that I don't own a hundred dollar brick.

Any and all suggestions welcomed...if you need more info..let me know

Hi,

I would do a hard reset on the router....  Is it possible the router's Ip got changed to something else besides the 0.1 IP ?

Have you tried 192.168.1.1 ?  Mostly a thought....

Hard reset as in the button in the back...i've tried that.  In terms of address...i've tried 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.2.1 and 192.168.3.1 with no luck.

this is the error i get.

The connection has timed out

The server at 192.168.2.1 is taking too long to respond.

Did you hold the reset button for at least 10 seconds with the router powered up? Open a command window and run ipconfig/all and see what you get for an ip address. The ip address listed as default gateway will be the ip address of the router, thats the one you use to log into it. If you see a bunch of 0.0.0.0's try ipconfig/release and then ipconfig/renew. If you still get zero's after that then your router may be bricked. If you want to conferm there is nothing wrong with your PC connect directly to your modem and see if you get a connection.
