Securespot problems
« on: March 06, 2010, 11:49:33 PM »

I have had the dir-655 for a long time now, but recently every 5 or so hours securespot turns on by itself. Every connection gets dropped and i have to go and manually turn it off. When i go to the securespot settings the box is not checked so i check it and save then uncheck it and save.

How do i fix it so i dosnt come on?

Oh man, so I'm not the only one with this problem.  I have also started experiencing this in the past week or so, every few hours it happens.  This is really getting to be a problem.

An update.. It's getting worse and worse.. now it happens every few hours for me.  The internet works fine, everything is peachy, then all of a sudden when trying to access any page, it goes to securespot page instead, and won't allow any access to the internet, until the turn on/back off trick is done.

How do I contact D-Link directly about this?  It is absolutely ridiculous.

Anyone think firmware is the problem?

I'm using 1.32

Updating to 1.33 had no effect.  Right after the reboot, it went straight to the securespot site even tho it was checked off.  I had to check it on, save it, check it off, save it, and now the internet is back.  we shall see how long it takes before securespot hijacks my connection again, now that I'm on 1.33

This is quite strange. Why some people have problems and others are not affected?

I am using 1.33NA. I may have to file a complaint with the BBB.

I started getting the secure spot this afternoon (March 7).  I've downgraded to 1.32, re-upgraded to 1.33 and done a factory reset in between.  None of this works  >:(.  Weird thing is after I reflash or factory reset, the secure spot check box is on but I can still get to internet sites.  Because some are having the problem with 1.32, it is not a 1.33 specific problem.  But could be a 1.3x problem.

I've sent a support email to dlink.  We'll see what they have to say.

Needless to say, it's a major problem.  Ever since I updated the firmware from 1.2x that came with the router to 1.3x, I've had this Securespot problem, not to mention that the router has since started throttling my internet somehow, I have no idea how, but I can't get my full speed through it anymore, and have to reset it every 12 hours or so to get it back to at least manageable speed (every 12 or so hours it slows down dramatically and needs to be reset).

What is the RMA policy of D-Link?

Peeps, check the post "here is how to downgrade your firmware".  I did that, and so far, everything is perfect, no more problems of any kind.  Not only has it fixed the securespot problems, but also the strength of the signal and the speed of the network is much better for me now!

This is ridiculous.  I have securespot DISABLED on my router, and have for a long time, now all of sudden it's preventing a computer (one of four) on my network web access, instead trying to connect to dir-655.bsecure.com.  This is very strange and very frustrating.

Also, I don't want to downgrade firmware because of this:
