I am saddened that I had to make an account just for this problem, I hope you will help me even tho I'm a newb.  I might as well stick around after.

Anyhow, every day or so, my internet stops working and every page I go to, the stupid SecureSpot page comes up saying my account has expired.  Clicking on DISCONTINUE doesn't do anything most of the time, after about an hour of trying, it finally lets go.

In Router Settings, Under Advanced/SecureSpot, I have it unchecked.  Lately, when this problem appears, I figured out the easier (by a bit) way is to go to the setting, put it on, save it, wait a minute, then turn it off again, then the internet comes back.

What is this bs?  Is this a registry problem in Win7 that it still thinks I'm using this thing when my router is set to no?  How do I fix this?

Same problem here.  Twice in last 3 days.  Temporary fix is to access the router through its IP address, re-enable SecureSpot by checking the enable box, save settings, wait, uncheck the box, then save settings again.  I tried e-mails to DLink support and received a mysterious phone call from SecureSpot saying they were having a problem with their "server" and it should not happen again.  It did though.
As a side note after running my antivirus scan the night after the first incident, it located 152 viruses.  Never had that before, and don't know if the two things are related.  Does anybody from DLink monitor this forum?

Same problem here.  Temporary fix is to re-enable SecureSpot on your router advance tab, save setting, pause, disable by unchecking box, then save settings again.  The problem will probably come back until DLink solves this.

I had to reboot the router for after I saved the settings to get it to work though.

If all we've got are temporary fixes then someone at D-Link f*ed up. If this is the kind of thing we can expect from d-link routers I'm never buying one again.

I switched to d-link after having several extremely painful experiences with Linksys routers. It will take a lot for me to go back to linksys, and as it stands now, it will take a lot for me to buy another d-link router. This is just total crap.

I called D-Link support who gave me the number for securespot support which is 1-850-275-1015

He also told me they were currently open, which they are, in fact, not.

I suggest everyone call them ASAP tomorrow morning and tell them you want this crap off your router.

Well, the site I was attempting to access I can now access but now I can't shake the feeling that, even when it's off, securespot is logging all my Internet use and sending it to d-link. Chances of me buying another D-Link product is now very slim.

I have never seen a more inept group than those who are developing the firmware for this unit. They have been tinkering and toying and fumbling for two years now on this and all they've done is increasingly fumble the ball.

They used to drag out the excuse ''it's beta firmware'' and pass the risk onto us. Then they release a so called final version with 1.33 and once again, things are screwed up royally.

There's no excuse whatsoever now. On one level this is failure, plain and simple. On another level it is deception and tampering behind our backs. We the folks who purchased this router have been deceived and subjected to behind the scenes tampering with features that we did not ask for--or pay for.

We should not be asked or be made responsible for having to downgrade.

I heartily suggest to all those affected that they contact their local Better Business Bureau (in the United States). If you live abroad, contact your equivalent. I would also suggest any of you that regularly watch shows like Buzz Out Loud or Tekzilla or GeekBrief or any higher profile tech related online program to contribute to their forums or email them and bring this out of the shadows.

D-Link has had long enough. No more patience. No more excuses.

I agree....I have never seen such a problematic router in all the years I've been in this business. This 655 has been a royal pain in the butt since day one, and I'm going out tonight after work and buying a different brand router. This whole securespot fiasco was the last straw for me. DLink won't ever get anymore of my money and I'll sure as hell be telling everyone I know in this business to stay far away from DLink. I'm just ttoally fed up with their unreliable junk! There are other companies building fine routers, so I just cannot fathom why DLink would be so sloppy with their products and seemingly horrible attitude toward their customers.

100% agree with you. As for myself I will just reinstall my old Netgear.

No word from D-Link regarding all the complains, do they read this Forum sometimes? If not, why a Forum then? Now that they got my money, I guess they couln't careless.

I'm having the same problem and I'm furious about it!  What gives D-Link the right to commandeer my browser and make it go to a pay web site!  I've installed the latest firmware and unchecked "Enable Safespot services", but the g** d***ed router keeps sending me to the SecureSpot web site, no matter what site I try to go to.  I finally had to disconnect the router altogether.  

This has wasted hours of my time on a work day, made me think my browser had been hijacked or my computer had a virus, and caused me no end of headaches.  If this doesn't get fixed ****to, I won't be responsible for my actions.

Why has the problem suddenly cropped up, anyway?  I've had this router for months, and had no real problems with it until today.  Is the bug just in recent versions of the software?  Can we downgrade?

Let's hear from the company!

had same problem with securespot hijack virus since firmware  upgrade months ago only temp fix is enable save disable save the securespot in router config was on phone months ago about this b/s and as usual with dlink support was of time ive canceled the securespot account disabled it in the router but same b/s every few wks when is dlink going to fix this problem its a wanted service that aint worth the crap it causes im thinking of buying a linksys ive always bought dlink from the 2310 the dss5+ even my storage DNS323 but if dlink dont do something about it thats the end i switch to linksys
