format command used?

Does anyone know what the actual command used to format the drives by firmware 1.08 might be?  I'm assuming it calls mke2fs, but I am curious what arguments it may pass (I'm a real stickler when it comes to formatting).

The main reason, is I am wondering if it passes -m0 (reserve 0% space for "root") when it formats, as that can eat away a huge amount of space on a drive that could only be used by the root user.  I'm also a bit curious as to how it configures the blocks and inodes.
