Based on the description in your email, the IP address that is terminating on the WAN interface on the DIR-655 is 192.168.1.2. This is a private IP address. For the DDNS feature to work on the router, a public IP address needs to be terminated on the WAN interface of the router.
If you want the DDNS feature to work on the DIR-655, kindly configure the DSL modem in bridge mode so that the public IP address that is provided by your ISP terminates directly on the WAN interface of the DIR-655. Then configure the DIR-655 in PPPoE mode.
Verify the connectivity.

Yeah, sounds like DDNS is resolving to the IP directly binded to router. Now I' am struggling configuring DSL modem as bridge. Will try contacting ISP see if the can help "doubt it" but is worth a try.
