advanced configure question
« on: March 15, 2010, 11:20:00 AM »

I use a Dir-655 router in default mode on a dsl line on a small home network. In the past I have used a program called Smoothwall-firewall as a stand alone firewall and my question is, Can I configure my dlink router to provide the same protection level as the Smoothwall firewall and if so, is there a comprehensive how-to configure the advanced features of the router. If someone is familiar with smoothwall system and could help point me in the right direction I would thank you very much.

Saw an article a few months back about smoothwall...PC World I think it was.

Smoothwall is meant to be a standalone linux based solution for a hardware firewall.  I would think it would be a far more complete firewall than what they put into the DIR router.
