Shareport on Rev A?
« on: March 20, 2010, 02:51:31 AM »

Ok, so I have the DIR-625 Rev. A. It has a USB port on the back which I have never been able to get to work (I haven't tried real hard either). Now, I need to hook a printer to it. The latest firmware is 1.09 which I have had installed for years. There is some 3rd party program available for download from D-link that is supposed to have all these features to. But, it's not compatible w/ Windows 7 x64.

I have tried Shareport ver. 1.4, 1.5 and 3.0 to no avail.  ???

So what I'm asking is does the shareport software work w/ Rev. A. And, are there any special settings inside the router that I need to enable.

Thanks in advance for any positive feedback.

So I found this program that came w/ my install CD, Network Magic. Anyway, I quickly figured out why I have never perused hooking up my printer to my router. The program fails to connect to the DIR-625 at the point where it ask for "user name" and "pw". The 625 only has 2 login types, "Admin", "User". Exactly that, only that.

I even tried flashing back to the 1.08 firmware which it says it supports. That was wasted effort.

Can anyone please tell if it is possible to connect a USB device to the DIR-625 Rev. A1 and share it on the network.

*Update*... gotta use "user" or "admin" not "User" or "Admin". Doesn't matter. Network Magic still can't find the printer or External HDD.

The Network Magic will not help you to use the Shareport.  You need to locate the Shareport drivers.

If your router version does not work with the Shareport, you might not be successful in using it.

The Network Magic will not help you to use the Shareport.

I realize that NM doesn't affect Shareport and vice versa.

What I need to know is how to share a USB device on my network using the USB Port on the DIR-625 Rev.A1 router.
