At the same time - there is no point in making misleading statements - which is the reason I questioned it.

Well, you also have to consider the situation.  I know very few people that want to connect and use FTP on the local network to access the NAS, most see FTP as a remote access tool.  We could sit here and endlessly nit-pick almost every reply searching for every grain of truth.  However, wouldn't it be a more constructive use of everybody's time to simply provide solutions to the real problem, not some imagined one?

Yes - I believe that ftp is used primarily to transfer data across the internet (strictly speaking this is NOT remote access), however, I am also aware that it can be and is often used to transfer data across a LAN.

Sorry to answer so lately but my problem is not at my office in paris but in one of the subsidiary and I just arrive today to try to solve the problem.
Thank you for discussing the case so professionnaly.
In fact, I am not using the ftp.
The pc is connected to 323 via the network card and is access internet via the wifi card.
I try the static IP and keep you informed.

I modify the wifi card to receive an automatic ip but I still got the problem.
Each time I activate the lan card the bridge to the router disapear and all my internet traffic is directed to the dns 323 !!!

If you have any ideas they are welcomed !!

Leave the Default Gateway and DNS Server addresses out of the local LAN configuration.

What bridge to the router are you referring to?

something weirder is the dling utility to discover the 323 shows nothing but windows says there is a lan connected dling on \R:

Connect the Wifi - right click on the bridge and either delete or disable it - and then reconfigure the networks connections are required.

So I try to sumarize the problem

Wifi : I checked the "receive automatic IP address"
I activate the wifi
A new icon appears saying : internet connexion
Ipconfig gives :
IP = 192.168.1.5
default gateway = 192.168.1.1
DHCP and DNS = 192.168.1.1
I desactivate the wifi and the icon "internet connexion" disappears

LAN : I set a static IP = 192.168.1.21
Gateway and DNS are blank
ipconfig gives :
IP = 192.168.1.21
netmask = 255.255.255.0
default gateway = blank
I use Dlink easy-search to configure the network and here I don’t know what to do !!
If I disable DHCP I can give the same IP 192.168.1.21 but it keeps asking for a gateway and I can’t put 192.168.1.1 because it’s the address of my router.
I am a bit confused !!

First - you have a network related issue which you need to sort out - and this in no way relates to the DNS-323.

Second - if you're going to use two network adapters do NOT use the same ip subnet on both or you will have trouble.

Thank you fordem, super useful answer.
Sorry not to be a network expert, next time I will try to pass a Bsc in networking before bothering you.
I will continue to use the 323 like before, desactivate wifi, activate lan do the back up and come back to normal.

You figure being sarcastic to the folks that are helping is the best route?  I'd suggest you may want to rethink your attitude.
