NFS question
« on: March 23, 2010, 01:38:41 PM »

Under the "Network Access" tab of the DNS-323 (f/w:1.08), you can configure SMB & NFS settings. If I want my WDTV (v1/WDLXTV) to mount the configured NFS share, I assume I have to install and enable the NFS server add-on, correct? If so, in what scenario would you configure NFS network access without the NFS server add-on?

When the add-on is not installed NFS settings are unavailable.

how do you know you're using NFS and not SMB?

I have a WD TV Live and it already connects to my 323 via SMB. I've been trying to figure out how access the 323 using NFS - I have the NFS addon installed and running and have created NFS shares but but I don't the specifics of how to connect with NFS instead of SMB (I'm using OS X most of the time)

I've asked but no one here in this forum seems to know (or they're not saying  :-\ )
