Short delay when opening new sites
« on: March 24, 2010, 02:17:58 PM »

Alright this is driving me nuts. Whenever I click on a new link to go somewhere on the web, there is a noticeable delay of maybe 2-3 seconds before the page is displayed. I recently upgraded to this router from an old WRT54g and didn't have this issue. I am hoping a setting on the router is causing it (QoS?), and I can switch it off.

BTW, I have the same issue on multiple browsers (so not a rendering issue). Also not a malware issue (am using OpenSuse linux). To add, I connect wirelessly. I suppose, I could try turning off and on various settings but much prefer the shorter route and hoping someone knows the issue.

Thanks!

I was having the same issue, some delays, and low transfer speed on the ps3.
Changed the MTU from 1500 to 1492 solved the problem.

I think the box you are pointing them at is labeled "DNS relay", right? :)

DNS Relay is fixed in 1.33NA,i don't know which version bwhite uses.if early versions, than yes you're right.
From the Web Interface Help episode where you click More on right pane:
Quote from: DIR-655 Router Help
DNS Relay
When DNS Relay is enabled, the router plays the role of a DNS server. DNS requests sent to the router are forwarded to the ISP's DNS server. This provides a constant DNS address that LAN computers can use, even when the router obtains a different DNS server address from the ISP upon re-establishing the WAN connection. You should disable DNS relay if you implement a LAN-side DNS server as a virtual server.
