Hi all,

Some newb question since I'm not too good at this NAS stuff...

My bittorrent worked great for about a year on 1.07 firmware, but a couple of weeks ago my power went out for 3 or so hours.  Once the power came back on, my internet provider went out for about 45 min.  Once everything was back up and running, I could not sign on to my dns323.  It keep giving me the "page not found".  I search through this forum and found a couple of topics on it.  I reset the 323 and re-map the drives with the software provided by dlink.

Now I am able to log on, but unable to use bittorrent.  I've reinstalled it several times and even cleared out one of the drives.  Nothing works.  I get the "torrent not installed" when I'm trying to use the torrent page. 

Any one out there might have a solution?  And yes, I've reset the 323 several times and gotten a new IP address as well.

HELP!  I miss downloading without using my pc! I'm running vista 64bit btw.

The golden question is "what changed?". Things rarely stop working unless something has changed...

I'm not sure what you mean about "re-installing bittorrent" I don't use it myself, assuming it's a package you've installed check it's for the right firmware?

Upgrade to 1.08 firmware?

Well, I have not upgraded to 1.08 as it seems like everyone's that upgraded is having issues with bt.  The thing that changed during the black out and the internet outage was the assigned ip address (I got a complete new one once I map the drives).  Once I got the unit back and running, bt was out of order.  It keeps giving me "bittorrent not installed" for about a week.  Now it's giving me "connection failed" on the bittorrent tab when I'm logged in.  Also, both my volume 1 drive and volume 2 drive now have Nas_Prog file that I cannot delete.  I only had that file on my volume 1 drive before the outage (which was my origial download file/drive for bt).

Strange. Not sure I understand what's happened there. The NAS getting a new IP is normal if it is setup for "DHCP". You say the NAS gave you a "Bit torrent not installed" error and now a "connection failed" error. Presumably this didn't happen without you doing something? Have you tried setting the NAS's IP, Subnet Mask, Gateway and DNS address statically? In my experience it's usually better to use a static IP address for something like a NAS. Especially if you are using the IP address to map drives.

Regarding the Nas_Prog file you are unable to delete, can you delete it after you've restarted the NAS? Try disabiling bt, rebooting the NAS then deleting it?

I'm using a cable modem set on static IP.  I really don't understand why the IP address changed.  I've done all you've listed before submitting the question.  Maybe I'll try it again tonight.

I can't disable bt as there's no option for it.  I've tried to delete those files after the reboot, but I get a "linux user permission required" and my windows 7 won't allow me to delete them.

I think perhaps we're talking at cross purposes. I'm refering to the IP address your NAS has on your internal network. I thought you were saying it has been asigned a new address. This would happen if your NAS is set to get an IP address automatically (DHCP) and is perfectly normal.

If you are refering to your external internet IP address changing, this is also normal unless you have a static internet IP.

No, we're talking about the samething.  My NAS IP address changed after the outage (it could be because I set the the NAS to get an IP address automatically), but this should not stop the bt's function nor not allowing me to delete the Nas_Prog files on my drive.

I wouldn't have thought so.

I only mentioned the IP address because you were asking why it had changed

I'm affraid I don't know much about the bt function. The only thing I can suggest, although drastic, is to copy off all your files (back them up) and try resetting, re-configuring and re-formatting the drives in whichever configuration you need and then copy the files back again. In other words, start with a clean slate.
