2 ps3's on one router
« on: April 18, 2010, 09:09:14 AM »

Help--  I am new to this router and am looking for some help.
My spuse and I both have ps3's and they are connected through the same router.  We play alot of Tiger Woods 10 with friends of ours.  The problem we have is when we set up a game for 3 to 4 people, we use the ingame voice chat.  My spouse and I can chat until another person enters the room.  As soon as we have the third player either my spouse or myself loses the voice chat ability..    Please help with any router set-up ideas/

Hi,

You may need to set up port forwarding for each PS3....  I know we dont have any problems with the multiple Xbox360's here with voice chat.....

I am assuming that if you two are playing alone...then adding a player would still keep you as game host(s)....so if I am correct, then there is probably some setting getting wonky about your hosting thru the DIR...again, if the PS3 is similiar to the 360 in that process....

Port forwarding won't work since you can't change the ports these consoles use. Both consoles will be listening on the same port so you can only forward to one or the other. The one thing that definitely works is to get separate static IPs for each system so you can forward, but that can be expensive. Someone discusses a possible solution here and even mentions the DIR-655:

I haven't tried it since I only do PC gaming but it might be worth a look.
