Hi all,
I am administering two networks and after reading some *very good* reviews about this router I decided to purchase two of them for connecting two separate networks.

Firmware was v1.02, HW version A2. Products bought in France, European versions.

The problem is that I cannot find "bridging" mode, in the sense that one of the two routers has to be a "client" for the other.

Tried to upgrade to v1.11EU, products working ok but still no "wireless bridging".

I read in other forums of some US people using firmware v1.03-v1.04 or similar for doing this, is it true ?

Can I downgrade my routers to an equivalent European fw version (without voiding warranty) and create a "bridge" for my networks ? I am available also to beta test, if needed ; it's essential for me "bridging" the two networks.

Tried to write also to technical support ; hope Dlink can give a solution for this "11 year warranty product"...
 :(

The DIR-655 had wireless bridging, it was removed becuase of complications in the firmware.
Look at the DAP-1522. See if that suits your needs.

thanks for your answer.

I write firmware since 15 years in my work for other types of devices, so I think I can have an idea of the complications.

It would be nice, anyway, that dlink firmware developers could take back wireless bridging ; I think DIR-655 could be a very complete product with such a little more... forgive me but sometimes, in my opinion, there are also commercial / market issues in some choices.
Please keep present I am available for eventual beta testing - now I have one "spare" DIR-655 I have no use for...  :(

In my country I have found DAP-1353, I REALLY hope being able to connect :

NET1<-cable->DIR-655
.....wireless.....
DAP-1353<-cable->Ethernet switch<-cable-> NET2

Can you confirm please that 1353 will work ?

Dear Sir,

To connect the DAP-1353 to the DIR-655 like you describe, will work, but only for one client behind the DAP-1353, since you set the DAP inte "client" mode. To get the result you are asking for, you will need two DAP-1353 and connect them to each other through the "WDS" mode (bridge). Through "WDS" you will make a bridge in between the two physical network locations. So your setup would be:
DIR-655 - cable - DAP-1353 -> Wireless WDS <- DAP-1353 - cable - switch - cable - client
