CTERA online backup - new release.
« on: April 28, 2010, 05:19:19 PM »

I got an email from CTERA today - just in case any one missed theirs, I'm quoting it below.

Quote from: CTERA
Dear D-Link customer,

Thank you for participating in the D-Link Online Backup beta program.

We are happy to announce that a new version of the Online Backup package has been released.

The new version incorporates the following changes:

·         The ability to schedule backups to start and stop at specific times of the day.
·         Improved folder user interface for folder selection.
·         Enhanced status display.
·         Assorted bug fixes.

We recommend upgrading to the new version.

The updated package is available for download from ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Multimedia/dns323/Beta/Apps/

For any question or assistance needed, please contact support@ctera.com

Thanks,

The CTERA support team

We will be doing a press release in the next couple weeks which I believe has pricing in it.

I've been using this service for a couple of months and from what I can see it works well. I haven't done a recovery yet though, fortunately. I just hope that when the prices come that they are reasonable...

Locally I'm running Genie Timeline which so far is working well. The downside might be that it's always on watching over the chosen folders. It's not taking up that much capacity though, not more than MSN messenger or Voddler. It's nice that I don't need to remember to do local back ups to the DNS.

I'm receiving an "Type mismatch - actual [EasyServicesGetResult] expected [EasyServicesParam]" error message when trying to save backup settings. No matter if anything was changed or not on the screen.

Anyone else seen this? CTERA helpdesk seems to be offline...

I am not getting any error when saving Settings Try to restart the add-on.

Did that, as well as restarting the dns-323 AND doing a full shutdown + restart of the dns-323 as a matter of course before sending off any tickets to helpdesk.

However the situation seems to have corrected itself sometime during the past day... strange... I dislike/distrust bugs that seem to disappear on their own.
