I think it's dead? Help please!
« on: February 22, 2008, 09:22:59 AM »

So, I've been having the same problems as everyone else with the DIr-655 constantly dropping the connection and then connecting again.
I've been playing with the firmware and settings that everyone has been suggesting.
My router just died.
The power light turns on, but nothing else lights up at all.
Is there a way to reset the router back to factory settings, including firmware?
Is it just dead?
Thanks

Hi bsebesta,

Call D-Link Support.

Agreed. 877-453-5465.
Unit sounds toasty. Mmmm, Toast.  :P

It happens. If it's really dead you'll get a replacement

I have the same exact issue. My unit only issue an address of 169.254.58.193 and a subnet of 255.255.0.0. I called dlink customer support and because my warranty expired Feb 2008, I have to buy a new router.

Hi mcotten,

If you can't log into your Router Settings, I would say that the problem is with your computer when with the Router itself.

Have you removed the Router from the equation? Have you tried going out directly to the Internet using your Modem?

I just RMA'd my router.  first it started with horribly hi pings when connected to 802.11N  but 802.11G would work fine, tried the beta firmware, tried 1.10, then back to 1.11  it worked ok for a couple weeks, but then the ping issue came back, then it would go into reboot loops where the router would reboot itself every minute or so.  Have had problems since getting for for Christmas.  Being a gamer, i am really missing my 54G router that i had no issues with, if the RMA'd router has the same issues, that seem to be so common...... i don't know dlink, i will wait and see, according to UPS i will have my replacement by tomorrow.  Here's to hoping I get a good one with no problems at all (I hope these exist and aren't as rare as they seem to be).

Please list all hardware used and the topology of your network. Also include things like UPS devices and 2.4Ghz cordless phones.
