Ok i quickly broughter her down... BINGO, i was able to connect without any issues.  Browsed around and was able to download and upload.  Something im missing or wonky going on with my router settings.  So now that ive narrowed it down, what the heck can it be?!  Can someone please post exact steps so that i can assure myself that i didnt miss anything?!?!

Ok this is weird... when i unplug my router and plug directly into my cable modem, i get a different IP from my provider.  I checked and double checked (with reboots and such) with www.whatismyip.com and im definitely getting two sets of IP's when im directly into the modem or not.  At one point many years ago before i got into routers, my i had 2 IP's from my ISP.  When jumped on the router thing i didnt ask for them to change it... do you think this could be the culprit?

Through looking at the various posts the one question many did not ask is if you are using passive or active ftp on your router.
For I am using filezilla through a DIR-655 without any issues.

Additionally I must ask what are these 2 IPs?  PM me with them if you feel it's a security concern to publish them.

The IP is different because the MAC address is different.

Sorry i feel like a dumba**... where do i find the option to switch it to passive?  I cant see that option in the routers config system/menu anywhere.

In ur ftp server look for Passive mode. Make sure its enabled  and add some passive ports.  I do 50000 to 50100.
Then u go to port fowarding in the router and add 50000 to 50100 to the list with ur comp ip.  Then go to virtual server and add port 21 for ftp to ur comp.

Apparantly this router doesnt do a good job in passive mode less u put those pasv ports in. By default web browsers use pasv for ftp as well as ftp clients.
