I have Vonage telephone service.  With my previous Netgear wireless router, I had no trouble sending or receiving faxes but since installing the DLink 655, I can do neither. 

Is there some port or setting I must enable to do so?

I'm sure most of us would need more specificity as to your setup (well I would anyway).  How do you normally send faxes?  Regular Fax Machine?  (M)ulti (F)unction (P)rinter?   IF it is the latter and you have a HOME LAN setup and that is where you use your MFP, then I would recommend flushing the printers network settings and then re-enter them.  See if that works.

I believe its under the Firewall section under the AVanced Tab....  Is a series of check boxes for different protocols the router will filter...One of them is SIP...UNCHECK the SIP box, and your Vonage issues should disappear as mine did.

Is this something that is related to Vonage specifically?  I ask this because I haven't had to uncheck that box in order to send/receive faxes.  Just wondering.

All I can say for sure is that Iwas have real iffy luck when sending or receiving faxes with my Vonage box strung off a port on my DIR-655.

Initially Vonage had me run the telephone-line that feeds the whole-house THRU the fax machine and THEN feed the house.

Then recently when I was really getting PO'd about the fax stuff, I did some reading around Vonage user support forums and such, and thats where I saw the item about preventing your router from filtering SIP packets because obviously Vonage and any standard VoIP provider uses SIP for VoIP.  Immediately after unchecking the little box for SIP, my faxes worked perfectly, both ways !!  Happy dance !!

Unchecking the SIP made a big difference to my torrent throughput, but not a noticeable difference to VoIP quality.  Thanks!

Can someone point me to where the SIP settings are so I can check that off and see if I can scan from my wireless printer? I used to be able to scan just find but now it keeps saying the printer is not online even though I can print to it.

I would, and I think most folks, suggest to NOT uncheck SPI firewall.

Thank you Yeah....disabling the firewall is not a good idea. Agreed I had not scrolled all the way down...the bad thing about using a laptop...smaller screens.
