Trouble with Router
« on: June 06, 2010, 06:20:35 PM »

Hello,

As of late I have been having some trouble with my D-Link DIR 825 router. Whenever I use it, my internet speeds are drastically reduced. I am positive that it is a router issue, as when I bypass by wiring my computer to the modem my speed is great. Does anyone have an idea of what the issue could be?

you might try chaning the wireless channel and see if that helps.  Normally, every router in the world is all defaulted to the same channel.  If you are in an area where there are several other wirless routers, you could be getting some interference.

Also, you might try re-orienting the antennas on your router, or maybe move it to a new location.  It doesn't have to be too far.

I have noticed this several times I just reboot my router/dsl modem and that fixes it.

This fix could suggest that the router WAN port speed setting of AUTO can be causing your problem.  It has been posted previously that setting the WAN port speed to 10 or 100 could fix this as a more permanent solution.
