DGL-4500 loses connection when uploading?
« on: June 08, 2010, 09:56:30 PM »

Ok here is my setup. AT&T Uverse home gateway --> Dlink DGL-4500 --> Windows 7 Desktop. My dgl-4500 loses connectivity whenever I try to upload some type of video to youtube. Have tried it several times and it is a problem with the dgl-4500. I have gone staight from uverse gateway to pc and it works fine. I have the uverse gateway set to dmzplus mode for the dgl-4500. What can i do to make sure the dgl-4500 doesnt lose connection when i upload? Any help would be nice. Myy firmware is the newest on the dgl-4500.

what ISP service do you have Cable, DSL? my the latest version of FW for the 4500, can you specify the version #?
Review the Gaming and Gamefuel sticky and try using some of the settings in there. These are setting I use and have uploaded and downloaded with out any issues. I run 7x64 as well.

Its VDSL technically, which is an advanced version and higher speed of DSL.  Not available everywhere yet.

Well I figured it could be DSL however needed some verification.

I presume this vDSL modem might have an onboard router as well? I've noticed that DSL modems are coming with built in routers now and some cases the router needs to be shut off or made transparent so that the 4500 gets all the data and can do the routing functions. Having both routers going seems to cause NAT issues from my experiences. I would see if your modem has this and if so, can you make it transparent or bridge? The 4500 works better if it gets a full public address. Make sure the Primary and 2ndary DNS addresses are being filled in in the Basic/Internet/Manual settings section. Most ISP can walk you thru getting the DSL modem bridge and setup in the 4500 router. I know, I had to help my buddy with his and he's on ATT standard DSL. What a nightmare that was.
